Jennyâs finger was almost touching Abelâs nose when she was pointing it at him.
âAre you insane???â She called out loudly, âYou were in your soulspeaker mode, and you tried to talk to every plant you saw as you were riding on your mount wolf! Are you trying to kill yourself? Itâs already exhausting enough to talk to just one plant! If your soul isnât strong enough, you wouldâve died instantaneously from that!â
Lady Jenny felt offended when Abel gave so little care to himself, especially when he was blessed with this amount of talent. After all, all soulspeakers were seen as extremely precious to the elves.
Lady Jenny was not the type to hold onto her anger, though. After coming back to her senses, she took a quick look at Abel from top to bottom.
âStrange,â Lady Jenny twisted her hair with one of her fingers, âIf you really did use your soulspeakerâs ability on your way back here, then how are you recovering this quickly?â
Abel looked a lot more concerned now, âOh, OH! Wait! I need to check on my body right
After leaving Lady Jenny where she was at, Abel quickly ran to the side of the tent. He then set up a seclusion circle and locked himself inside it. When no one could see him, he began checking on the state of his druid spirit with his power of the Will.
From what Abel saw, the green light that was emitting from his druid spirit was becoming a lot weaker. His conscience was not connected to it right now, but he understood that it had sustained a lot of damage.
That was not good. For any occupation holder, having oneâs soul injured could have some very severe consequences. Some of these consequences might be irreversible, meaning that they could affect the outcomes of all future training.
When Abel sensed that his druid spirit was injured, he realized that one of his item slots became empty. It was where the purple soul potion was originally at. When the slot became empty, he could see that the druid spirit was starting to recover from its injury. The light that was emitting out of it started tingling, and it was getting less dark than when he first saw it.
Abel tried connecting his conscience to his druid spirit. Instead of experiencing any sort of dizziness, he was starting to feel a lot more refreshed. If anything, he could tell that his druid ability was being strengthened.
Come to think of it; this was the first time that Abel consumed his soul potion without drinking it down his throat. If he was drinking the soul potion with his mouth, most of the essence wouldâve been absorbed by his main soul. Now that itâs directly supplied to his druid spirit, his druid spirit could gain most of the essence that was in it. And it was all thanks to that snakeâs self-recovery belt he got from the dark world. If he became injured in the future, he could always use it to make sure that any medicine he put on would go straight to where the wound was at.
Abel wiped some of the cold sweat off his head. If Lady Jenny didnât remind him so early, it wouldâve been too late to treat his damaged druid soul with his soul potion. He checked for a few times, and after he became satisfied with what he saw, he switched his conscience to his main soul and opened his eyes.
Before Abel left the seclusion circle, he took out another soul potion from his kong kong spiritual beast bag. After placing it in the empty slot on his snakeâs self-recover belt, he finally switched off his circle and came back.
When he came back, he saw that the elven ladies were all waiting for him. Since they were worried about him, they didnât bother making any dinner.
âAre you okay?â Carrie quickly came to ask.
âItâs fine now, all thanks to Jenny,â Abel smiled to inform her that everythingâs okay.
Carrie shook her head in disapproval, âYou are too much of a daredevil, Bennett. How crazy do you have to be to overload your own soul?â
âUh, well, Iâm sorry,â Abel scratched his head, then looked towards the food thatâs being brought back, âUm, how about this? To show how apologetic I am, Iâll be the one to make dinner tonight.â
Carrie pushed Abel away before he tried to get the food, âJust- get some rest now. You need some rest, Bennett. Morrieâs the one making dinner today.â
âSheâs right, you know,â Lady Morrie smiled as she and the other girls went to pick up the materials, âBy the way, youâve never known how much of a good cook I am, have you?â
Carrie said as she looked Abel straight in the eyes, âYou better take care of yourself, Bennett. Jenny was ranting so much about you just then. She kept on talking about how little you seem to appreciate your talents.â
âAlright, alright! I got it, Carrie!â Abel nodded his head in defeat. He couldnât just explain what a druidâs spirit was to Carrie, so the most he could do was to listen to her advice.
âGood,â Carrie said, then pointed towards a spot thatâs laid with a rug, âNow sit there and wait for your dinner. Youâre going to get some quality rest today, got it?â
âHey, Bennett!â Lady Morrie called out as soon as Abel was going to have a seat, âGive me your magic staff! Iâm trying to make a fire here!â
With a smile on his face, Abel took out a +1 âfireballâ staff from his portal bag. âItâs yours from now on!â he shouted as he threw it to Lady Morrie.
âThatâs too kind of you, but thank you!â Lady Morrie said in excitement as she received the staff. As the cook of the team, itâd be very convenient for her now that she could make fire like this. She could use her druid spell âfire torpedoâ to do the job, but she wouldnât want to risk burning down an entire forest.
The other elven ladies were all surprised by how generous Abel was being. A magic staff with the âfireballâ spell was not exactly the best thing there was, but it was already much more precious than most ordinary weapons.
Carrie was the only one who wasnât surprised. If anything, she just thought that magic staff was just one of Abelâs other spares.
âIâm a wizard now!â Lady Morrie lifted her magic staff with a serious look on her face. Her enemy, well, itâs the pile of timber that was on the ground.
âNow burn!â Lady Morrie shouted as she activated the âfireballâ spell. When a rune sign appeared, a fireball came out and shot at the pile of timber. A fire was made, and it was this easy.
When Lady Morrie threw a proud look at the other elven ladies, they all came in and tried to get their own turn at casting a fireball. The camp was suddenly filled with loud sounds of laughter. Itâs like they all forgot about how miserable they were back then.
Carrie said to Bennett as she stood at the side, âThank you, Bennett.â
âNo big deal, Carrie,â Abel smiled in response, âIâm a blacksmith as well, you know. I can always make more magic staff if I want to.â
âNo, thatâs not what I meant,â Carrie shook her head, âThank you for all that youâve done to help us. Since youâre the alchemy master, it is actually our job to protect you during this quest. Still, though. So far, your resourcefulness and knowledge have been a crucial help for everyone here.â
