While he was still on White Cloudâs back, Abel could already see Liante City on the ground.
So thatâs what the âcenter of the human worldâ looked like. The city was split in half. There was a giant mountain that served as the border. There was also a very steep cliff, one that had a very grand fort built next to it.
In the inner parts alone, Abel could see a total of 36 magic towers. They were all at least 15 floors in height, and they lined up on the giant pentagons on the ground. The pentagon was a magic circle, a magic circle that was set up in the very center of the city.
There was a very tall building next to this giant magic circle. While it was not as tall as the magic towers, it was still much taller than the other buildings next to it.
After Abel flew to an isolated location, he got on Black Windâs back and made an âinstantaneous movementâ to the ground. Now that Black Wind could perform a total of 5 âinstantaneous movementsâ in one day, it became very convenient for him if he wanted to get on and off White Cloud.
The entrance he chose was the one from the Kingdom of St. Anwall to Liante City. It was a cavern, which was built on the side of the mountain. The hole of the cavern had ten armored knights to guard it. Whoever made their way in here had to show whatever documents that were required.
Outside the city, there were vendors that were selling various different items. Rather than doing business, however, it felt more like they were treating the people that were coming in and out of the city.
Soon, after following the line, Abel made his way to the entrance.
âYour identity cards, please, sir,â the knight said respectfully after seeing Abelâs mount wolf.
Because of how close he was, Abel could tell that the security guards here were all advanced knights. It was a surprising sight for him. In most cities, advanced knights were supposed to be high-ranking officials. Here, however, they were just normal soldiers that acted as security guards.
âCan I use this instead?â Abel handed his property bond to the knight.
The knight lowered his head even more humbly, âYes, sir, but if you donât have any proof of residence, allow me to write one for you. Just come over here, please.â
âExcuse me, then,â Abel bowed to show his thanks. When he followed the knight to a desk, he jumped down from Black Windâs back.
The knight also jumped down from his horse. He was about 180cm in height. He was pretty tall, but Abelâs even taller stature made him seem kind of feeble. In fact, despite Abel being a lot younger than him, this knight could tell that there was a drastic difference in terms of their skill level.
âMay I have your name, sir,â the knight inquired.
âAbel. Itâs Abel Harry,â Abel replied. He expected some sort of reaction from the knight or the scribe, but they just got his name down very calmly. After all, there were a lot of Abels in the world. He wasnât calling himself something like âBlacksmith Abel,â so it made sense that they didnât really know who he was.
âYou have a title, sir?â the scribe asked.
âWell, uh,â Abel thought for a while, then said, âNo. Donât have any.â
The knight and scribe exchanged a look. From Abelâs expression alone, they could tell that something went wrong to him. Still, Abel sounded and acted like a nobleman. After they got the gist of his information, it was not up to them to ask the questions. That being said, they didnât need to learn about how Abel had lost his title as a viscount or an earl.
âAnything to verify your profession, sir?â the scribe asked.
âHow about this?â Abel passed over his rank 3 wizard badge. When the scribe took it over and placed it on a jade, a red light flashed over the badge.
âYour wizard badge has been canceled,â the scribe gave the badge back with a weird look on his face. He didnât know about Abelâs story, but he felt bad that a young man would lose both his wizard status and noblemanâs status.
âDo I need to show what profession Iâm in to make an entrance?â Abel frowned.
The scribe said patiently, âOf course not, sir. Iâm just recording some basic details for the city council to manage.â
Abel asked, âRight. Can I re-apply for my wizard status after Iâm in the city?â
The scribe nodded, âOf course, sir. Please head to the Wizard Union branch for that.â
Suddenly, a few men in suits walked towards Abel.
âHey, brother. Can you help me out here? It would be nice if you ah, you know, can get my friends here inside the city. Donât worry about the pay, man. Iâll make it worth it for you.â
Abel turned around to look. It was a knight that was talking to him. He was about the rank of a knightâs commander. As polite as he sounded, there was a certain cockiness that was in his eyes. He probably saw Abelâs documents. There wasnât anything on it, so he probably assumed that he was talking to a normal civilian.
The knightâs commander continued to talk, âDidnât you know, good sir? If you have a property in this city, you can always bring five people inside with you. Donât worry; weâre not going to stay at your house. It would be a lot of help if you can just get us inside. As for the priceâŚâ
The knightâs commander thought after a while, âHow about ten thousand gold coins?â
The knight that brought Abel here interrupted, âVery savvy of you, huh? Five company for ten thousand gold coins.â
He then turned to Abel, âMy good sir, please! Donât fall for their tricks! Your house is much more valuable than that! Also, if they bring any trouble to this city, it would be your responsibility. Do you understand?â
The knightâs commander quickly changed his tone, âAlright, alright! Ten thousand, then! Thatâd be twenty thousand for each one of us!â
âJust go away!â Abel waved the knightâs commander away, âIâm not short on money, so go bother someone else.â
âOh, you sure about that?â a trace of imposing pressure emerged from the knightâs commander, âThatâs ten thousand gold coins, my good friend. You sure you arenât interested?â
Before the imposing pressure went to Abel, his hand was already grabbing the knight commander by his neck.
âI donât care what you are, alright?â Abel said in a menacing tone, âIâm in a good mood today, so donât you ruin it for me.â
Then, he threw the knightâs commander to the ground ten meters away from him. It was like he was throwing a toy or something. The knightâs captain flew away without any resistance.
A voice came as everyone watched in shock. It was Bartoli. She was wearing a black cape and a double magic staff badge in front of her.
âIâm so sorry for being this late, master. I came as soon as you called me, but the line was simply too long,â Bartoli bowed and apologized.
âItâs fine. Come inside the city with me,â Abel said to Bartoli, then turned to ask the scribe, âCan I go in now?â
The scribe replied with a shocked look on his face, âUh, yeah, yeah! Of course, sir! Hereâs your proof of residence! Please, head in any time you wish!â
