Chapter 4 - The Class Idol and the Goddess of Victory
âAre you going to Takanishiâs house?â
âWho did you hear that from?â
Today, Iâm talking to Akito again.
âNo, itâs actually a rumor thatâs been going around.â
âEhâŠ..?â
I mean, if there is a guy from your class going to the house of the class idol, Aisa Takanishi, itâs understandable why there are rumors. Okay, but itâs just a rumorâŠ..
âThis is badâŠ..â
âI knew it, you were going.â
If itâs so obvious, you might as well tell them.
âActually, Iâm her imoutoâs tutor.â
âWhat the hellâŠ.. You even messed withTakanishiâs sisterâŠ..â
Akito, who had been looking sluggish, leaned forward.
âNo, wait. I donât remember messing with either of them.â
âButâŠ.â
It would be pointless to tell my classmates that Aisa and I were childhood friends or that our parents were close. They only know of the current relationship I have with Aisa. At the same time, I do think itâs better to spread the word about the tutoring situation to calm the rumors down.
âI have no clue whatâs going on between you two, but I think you two should talk about it.â
âNo. After seeing the way she looked, can you even talk to her?â
Even now, whenever I look at her, she immediately turns her face away to avoid my eyes.
âTurning away from your face means that sheâs seen it before.â
âThe classroomâs small. You can see what I can see.â
âWell, if thatâs what you think, thatâs fineâŠ..â
Even if she did see me, she mustâve given me a reproachful look that said, âYouâre starting rumors because youâre looking at me.â
âBy the way, Takanishiâs sister is âthatâ Takanishi, right?â
âIâm not sure what âthatâ means, but Iâm sure it comes up a lot.â
Manami is a beautiful girl who is talked about throughout the school. Of course, her older sister was a major factor, but there was another reason why Manami was famous.
âSheâs the goddess of victory, right? Thatâs awesome, dude. Youâre legally going to the home of the goddess of victory and the class idol.â
âWhat do you mean by legalâŠ..â
Goddess of Victory. That is the nickname given to Manami.
Originally, that means to bring victory and good luck, but in Manamiâs case, she brings victory to herself.
When Manami joins a sports club as a helper, she outdoes the regular players in the club and shows a great performance. Itâs a bit of an exaggeration to say that they never lose a game with Manami as a helper, but they seem to be maintaining a high win percentage. As a result, before she knew it, she had become known as the goddess of victory even within her own grade.
Thatâs what sheâs been doing since she was a little girl, fitting in with the guys and getting into trouble.
âBesides the goddess of victory, Iâm not really welcome there.â
I want to show Aisaâs face yesterday to the boys who have a crush on her. Itâll be inevitable that all but a few of these idiots will tremble in fear.
âWell, Iâm your senpai when it comes to women, so let me tell you something.â
âThatâs a distressing thought.â
I poked Akitoâs unkempt, shaggy hair.
âJust ask him. Iâm sure Takanishi wants to talk to you too.â
âReally?â
âOtherwise, youâd act like you werenât interested. Just like the others.â
I donât intend to really listen to him, but when it comes to women, Akitoâs words have some credibility.
Heâs not exactly the most popular person on campus like Aisa, but Iâm sure Akito has more experience than me. Much to my dismay.
âI donât know if what she wants to talk about is good or bad, and I donât know if what you want to talk about is good or bad, but I think youâre only acting this way because you have something to say to her.â
âI see.â
Iâll have to keep that in mind.
âWell, by the looks of it, weâll be talking again soon.â
âHm?â
âCâmon, itâs next class. Letâs go.â
âAh.â
For some reason, Akitoâs prophetic words lingered in my mind for the rest of the day.
